2021 Packaging Sustainability Update

November 9, 2021

Where We’ve Been

Last year’s comprehensive Packaging Sustainability Report laid out a strong plan through 2025. This document is an update on the progress Quad’s Packaging division has made since, and how we plan to take things further.

In 2020, we surveyed employees and clients to help us understand what sustainability topics are most material to shaping how Packaging operates.

Where We Are

We adopted six of the most relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

These SDGs are an urgent call to action for all countries and businesses. They address climate change, poverty, pollution, equality, hunger and many other challenges facing our global community — all of which are connected.

Over the past year we’ve experienced tangible, measurable benefits as a direct result of incorporating the SDGs into our work.

Stance on Sustainability

The Packaging division’s sustainability efforts fall under Quad’s larger commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). “Sustainability” at Quad is not a one-size-fits-all strategy that applies broadly — each business unit works toward its most immediately relevant and achievable goals.

Quad uses Environment, Social, Governance (ESG) to measure its CSR efforts. Packaging discusses measurement in terms of the Triple Bottom Line of People, Planet, Profit. It’s all in the same spirit, prioritizing our social impacts (people) and our environment (planet) while doing good business (profit) with high ethical standards. Packaging’s sustainability work is born from our Culture of Creating a Better Way. What follows is the Packaging division’s update in becoming a better global citizen since our 2020 sustainability report.
