Our diversity, equity and inclusion commitment
50 years ago, Quad was founded on a set of Values that continue to guide our decisions and actions. At Quad our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is based on these same Values. We deeply believe in people, in the importance of doing the right thing, and in the transformative power of trust. These lasting Values are at the core of our mission to create a better way and provide the foundation for diversity, equity and inclusion at Quad.
It’s the right thing to do and we are doing the right thing.
Our Values are clear. Respect for one another is critical to our wellbeing, our work, and our success. We do not tolerate racism, discrimination, retaliation or prejudice of any kind. We keep this message front and center in our employee communications and employee education efforts, including mandatory annual anti-harassment sessions. We are constantly looking for ways in which we can learn, grow and improve.
As a company, Quad is taking action to achieve our diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) goals as defined below.
Achieve a workforce that reflects the communities where we live / work as well as the clients who trust us with their business.
Ensure that our procedures, processes and distribution of resources create equal opportunities and fair and just outcomes.
Create a safe and open environment where all Quad employees can bring their truest and best selves to work.
We view our DEI work as a continuous journey. The bonds between people grow and change with every passing day, providing us with never-ending opportunities to learn from each other, share and improve. We believe that DEI adds significant and world-changing value into everything we create for our clients, and how we interact with employees and communities.
Through partnerships with experts in diversity, equity and inclusion, we are enhancing our approach to DEI including creating learning and development programs for employees that support a comprehensive and sustainable DEI strategy at Quad.
Quad’s strategy includes building and reinforcing a common language around DEI through education, establishing leadership accountability for DEI programs that link to business outcomes, and driving a DEI strategy throughout the entire enterprise.
We believe in people
Over the decades Quad has grown from a handful of employees in a single location into a worldwide family of approximately 15,800, and if there’s one thing we’ve learned in all that time it’s this: together we can do anything. This is our truth and the foundation of our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Together we can do more than individuals apart.
We believe everyone at Quad has the right to feel confident, appreciated, safe, valued and able to bring their best selves to work each and every day. Each of us needs to know that we are understood. To achieve this, we listen, we learn, and we take action – together.
While this platform will continue to grow, Quad is already using it as a space to engage employees in our DEI efforts by encouraging them to look inward at their own biases and outward at different world-views – all in the spirit of building more inclusive and equitable work environments. The platform currently explores a wide range of topics such as the basics of DEI, how to navigate challenging DEI conversations, how to spot your own implicit bias and what having privilege means.

- The platform’s Become An Ally section educates employees on the topics listed above and more through videos and articles.
- The Create Enduring Change section provides educational resources, and helps employees stay informed about the organizations with which Quad is currently partnering to further our DEI goals. This space also includes tips on how to get involved in your own local community and resources to help register to vote.
I am. We are. helps to reflect the integral role that diversity, equity and inclusion plays in company’s framework. While the core of Quad’s Values and our identity are unchanging, we will continually examine the best ways our company can empower employees and serve our clients. Our success as a marketing solutions partner depends upon this continual, positive growth. Even more importantly, it’s the right and just thing to do.
Our Business Resource Groups (BRGs) are another key way we create a more inclusive environment at Quad. Created by employees for employees, BRGs connect people with shared backgrounds, interests and issues, and encourage the growth and development of each member. Our BRGs also work to make sure everyone at Quad has an opportunity to be heard, and we rely on them to inform company policies.
We currently have four BRGs at Quad:
The Circle is a community that supports the advancement of women at Quad while helping each other create a better way along their personal and professional journeys.
The Frontline provides support and mentoring to military veterans at Quad, while facilitating a welcoming and inclusive experience for new and existing veteran employees and their families.
PRIDE is a globally visible LGBTQIA+ employee resource group. The group’s goal is to facilitate community and create a safe, inclusive environment for the entire Quad family. PRIDE encourages unity by promoting education, understanding and acceptance of people from all walks of life.
U.N.I.T.E. propels Black Excellence and aims to create space for professional development, community outreach, and career advancement while encouraging authenticity of Black employees within Quad and our communities.
Our leadership initiatives bring DEI to the forefront of our daily business practices. We believe the power of positive leadership empowers everyone at every level of our workforce to embrace our Values and to actively in support diversity, equity and inclusion
We’ve trained more than 1,200 people leaders – from front-line supervisors to senior executives – to see and understand how behaviors in the workplace support our commitment to inclusion. Many have now become facilitators of our People Leading People program, working to help us all become self-aware and to understand and appreciate the value of each person’s background, life experiences, interest, religion, culture, language and more.
We believe in our communities
At Quad, we recognize our communities are a direct connection to our future, and we have a responsibility to support those who live and work around us. We continuously seek to build relationships and involvement through volunteerism, outreach, philanthropy and charitable giving.
Our social responsibility is to support the communities where we live and work through our time, talent and investment of financial resources.
We believe it is our social responsibility to help, where possible, and are proud of the meaningful difference we have made through support of local career development programs and other local organizations, as well as a focus on developing diverse talent in our industry. Some of the recent work we have done include:
Running Rebels: We have partnered with Running Rebels in Milwaukee to provide career-oriented manufacturing jobs, training and transportation to individuals looking to better their employment situation. We are proud financial sponsors of Running Rebels’ Annual Epic Gala.
Casa Guadalupe Education Center: Located in Southeastern Wisconsin, Casa Guadalupe Education Center’s mission is to be the bridge of integration to Hispanics and the communities in which they live through education and community access. Quad provides financial support and volunteer resources to advance this mission, which includes a focus on empowering low-income, native-born and Spanish-speaking LatinX/Hispanic families to live independent, fulfilling lives; build strong families; and establish meaningful connections within their community.
Special Olympics: As the world’s largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics transforms lives by giving athletes continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship. Quad financially supports and participates in state-focused fundraising events that help support this important mission.
Black Men Teach: Through our Minneapolis agency, Periscope, we are working with a local Minnesota organization, Black Men Teach, to provide pro bono strategic, creative and public relations support.
Brandcenter at VCU: To support the important work underway for the advancement of diverse talent in the creative industry, we financially support scholarship programs at the Brandcenter at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), a two-year full-time master’s program dedicated to developing the next generation of creative talent.
The BrandLab: Through Quad and the Quadracci family’s Windhover Foundation, we are making a commitment to bring The BrandLab to Milwaukee. Our three-year partnership will generate jobs, introduce local students to new career opportunities in advertising and marketing. The organization’s mission is focused on changing the face and voice of the marketing industry by creating opportunities for young people from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Chicago Children’s Choir (CCC): Founded in direct response to the Civil Rights Movement in 1956, Chicago Children’s Choir uses music as a vehicle to foster mutual understanding and respect between young people of all races, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, religions, gender identities and sexual orientations. Quad provides financial and strategic support to ensure success of the organization’s in-school and after-school programs serving nearly 5,000 students from every ZIP code of Chicago. Eric Ashworth, EVP at Quad and President, Agency Solutions, has been a member of the Chicago Children’s Choir (CCC) board of directors since 2015.
Our commitment to supplier diversity
We are focused on developing mutually beneficial relationships with diverse suppliers. Quad’s goal is to increase our long-term spend with diverse suppliers by 10% annually through our commitment to:
- Grow a diverse supplier base reflective of the communities in which we do business; and
- Partner with suppliers who provide the best total value, which includes diversity.
We firmly believe that this commitment is an important step to support the communities in which we live and work. We also understand that bringing diverse suppliers to the table provides us with a competitive advantage that creates value for Quad and our clients.
